Kim: The past and future of Journal of Exercise Rehabilitation
The Journal of Exercise Rehabilitation is an official journal of the Korean Society of Exercise Rehabilitation, and is a professional journal that combines exercise and rehabilitation that has been steadily developed since its first publication in 2005. Looking at the footsteps of the Journal of Exercise Rehabilitation, it leaves the following traces.
The first issue of the Korean Journal of Exercise Rehabilitation was published in 2005 as a collection of papers in Korean. In January 2009, Korean Journal of Exercise Rehabilitation was selected as a candidate journal for registration by the Korean Research Foundation. In January 2013, Korean Journal of Exercise Rehabilitation was selected as a registration journal by the Korean Research Foundation. When the registration was confirmed, the name was changed to Journal of Exercise Rehabilitation and converted into an English paper, and the number of publications increased from 4 to 6 per year.
On August 7, 2013, Journal of Exercise Rehabilitation was applied for listing in PubMed and PubMed Central, and in November 2013, listing in PubMed and PubMed Central was confirmed. Publication of PubMed and PubMed Central started from the April 2013 issue (Volume 9, Issue 2). Journal of Exercise Rehabilitation applied for listing in Scopus of Elsevier on March 18, 2014, and after various administrative difficulties, it was approved for listing in Scopus on November 26, 2017. From February 2, 2018, the 2017 papers began to be published in Scopus. Journal of Exercise Rehabilitation applied for SCI listing on February 14, 2017, and was listed in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), an SCIE candidate of Clarivate Analytics, on April 2, 2018. Publication began from the 2018 paper.
As seen above, Journal of Exercise Rehabilitation is a registered journal of the Korean Research Foundation, and has established itself as an excellent journal in terms of overview registered in PubMed with PubMed Central, Scopus, and ESCI. Journal of Exercise Rehabilitation has faithfully carried out its original mission of publishing excellent papers in the field of exercise and rehabilitation. Its name can also be said to be known all over the world. One unfortunate thing about the development of the Journal of Exercise Rehabilitation is that it is still not listed in the SCIE and remains as an ESCI.
Judging from Journal of Exercise Rehabilitation’s capabilities, it is evaluated that it is not lacking even if it is already listed in the SCIE journal or SSCI journal. Therefore, it is sincerely hoped that the Journal of Exercise Rehabilitation will be listed in the SCIE journal or SSCI journal as soon as possible.
